Sometimes speaking with an AFOL or reading their online posts can have a layperson scratching their heads. Here is a list (not a complete list in any way shape or form) of many of the more common terms you may encounter.
- AFOL – Adult Fan of LEGO
- BURP – Big Ugly Rock Piece
- FOL – Fan of LEGO
- LUG – LEGO User Group aka clubs that are often, but not always recognized by The LEGO Group as an RLUG.
- LURP – Large Ugly Rock Piece
- MOC – My Own Creation
- MURP – Medium Ugly Rock Piece
- SNOT – Studs Not On Top. Any brick or piece with studs on the sides.
- TFOL – Teen Fan of LEGO
- TLG – The LEGO Group. A shortening of the company’s name by fans.
- Travis Brick – a 1×1 modified brick with four studs (one on each side).
- WIP – Work In Progress
